Do I need a referral?
Screening & Assessment Appointments
You do not need a referral to access our assessment and screening appointments. This is the best way to determine whether you are at risk of an eating disorder and what steps are best for you to take next.
Diagnosed Eating Disorder
To access Medicare rebated sessions you will need a referral from your GP. Following your screening assessment we would encourage you to make a long appointment to set this up. We will provide your GP with your assessment and screening information and if they agree with our recommendations will be able to establish an Eating Disorder Treatment & Management Plan (EDP). You can access 20 sessions with a Dietitian and up to 40 sessions* with a Psychologist every 12 months to support you and your eating disorder under this plan.
In some cases your presentation may give you access to up to 5 sessions with our Dietitian under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) or up to 10 sessions with our Psychologist or Dietitian under a GP mental health treatment plan (GPMHTP). Please discuss with your GP.
We also support disordered eating behaviours, so even if your assessment does not fit the criteria for one of the main eating disorders, we can still offer you a range of nutritional and therapeutic support.
You will not need a referral if you access our services under the NDIS via planned or self managed funding (see NDIS below).
*referral from paediatrician or psychiatrist required for sessions 21-40
